Despite their combined 0-6 record, the Cypress Ridge Rams and Cypress Lakes Spartans put on an entertaining defensive battle Saturday night, eventually leading to a 14-0 Rams victory.
After a scoreless first quarter, Cypress Ridge would strike first on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Justice Porter to Lejune Patterson to take a 7-0 lead.
A 27-yard rush by Jarel Lewis set up 1st and Goal for Cypress Lakes, but a bad snap on first down resulted in a 23-yard loss. The Spartans ultimately turned the ball over on downs after the miscue.
Cypress Ridge would build on their 7-0 halftime lead by scoring on the first possession of the second half, as Alex Jacobs rushed into the end zone from eight yards out to take a 14-0 lead.
That score held as the final.
Up next for Cypress Ridge (1-3) will be their homecoming game against the always dangerous Cy-Fair (4-0) on Friday night.
Meanwhile, Cypress Lakes (0-4) will return home to face the undefeated Langham Creek Lobos (4-0) from Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
