Converse Judson’s dual-threat quarterback Julon Williams is taking his talents east next season.
The four-star athlete announced his commitment to the University of Houston on Sunday, picking the Cougars over Oklahoma State, TCU and others.
Williams, a four-year starter for Judson, gives Houston added depth and versatility on offense.
Kyle Allen should be Houston’s starting quarterback for 2018, which will be his last year of eligibility.
Other quarterbacks on Houston’s roster for next season will be D’Eriq King, Mason McClendon and Bryson Smith.
Williams will have plenty of time to develop under head coach Major Applewhite at Houston, but the incoming signal caller already boasts an impressive resume.
In three years at Judson, Williams led the Rockets to two state semifinals appearances and a third playoff appearance last season.
Though Williams hasn’t won a state championship with Judson yet, the Rockets took a huge step towards their ultimate goal last week.
Fourth-ranked Judson defeated sixth-ranked Austin Lake Travis on Friday night by a final score of 65-45. Williams finished with 268 passing yards, 221 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
